Today I got to teach a low-key class on Impressionist Painting for the Peterborough Senior Center. Obviously I was stoked, because it involved being outside in a garden, painting, and being with amazing older adults who had such a welcoming, teachable attitude. We were able to relax in Olga's garden, one of many in the Fens Victory Gardens, and one of the prettiest for sure.
Many of the women hadn't started painting until recently, that is after age 70. It is truly inspiring what people can do with a little time and budding interest. Olga, the one pictured below showing her painting, said she is spurred on by community--the network of friends that have grown as a result of the Center has helped her to continue doing what she likes.
I think we all learned some things, and we were all grateful to be outside on such a gorgeous, mild day.

Old people rock.
