Biking Friday :)

We reached our goal! (finally) ... some pond in Lexington.
We sat in the grass and talked about our midgame. Do we have a strong start? A strong finish?
The interns are approaching the mid-way point and want to have a strong mid-game and sustain the energy we started with.

You have searched me, Lord, and you know me

(Written by Brennan Cooke)

Everyday I feel so blessed to be a part of the Fenway DTP. All the things God is teaching me is blowing me away and it is amazing! I am glad that God has led each of us four to this project in His own way and that we have this time to build relations and work together toward a common goal. Our goal? To truly love this community and give up ourselves completely in order to serve God and the people here in Fenway. We want to show this community that Fenway Church is here and we care!

The most important lesson God has taught me since I have started this internship is to just give up. In order to serve God the way He wants me to I cannot hold on to the things I have and to give them up to God; to admit that there is absolutely nothing I can do myself without God. God wants the whole me, not just part of me, and He will take all my pieces and make me whole again. God told me that I have to give up on a daily basis, including lifting up all that burdens my heart (He will carry it for me).

God knows everything already- everything about you and me both. He knows the choices we will make, the sins in our life, the hardships we have endured and the mistakes we will make and have made; and none of those things effect His love for us- it remains perfect and unconditional. The words He gave me yesterday:

"Rejection will come. You may not see or hear results. For I am a God who sees and knows all. And through me you cannot fail. Do not be afraid, for I already knew how this moment would go."

So I hope that encourages others to have confidence in God instead of doubts in themselves. We should not be ashamed when things do not go the way we thought they would- God already knows that and was planning on it.

I cannot wait to see what other plans God has for us. I pray that He uses us as humble servants to carry out what ever plan He has for Fenway. Thanks for reading!

Reflection Week 1&2

(written by Kelsey Rae)

So Brennan started a Fenway Intern blog for us all to share our experiences, memories, and reflections on the discipleship training. Good idea. I like reflecting, but this is apt to be short, since we are in the Operation Peace computer lab, just waiting for people to come who need computer help. Nobody's here yet, so I'll share my highlights of the experience so far:

1. The teaching/training in the morning. Everyday, we spend about 3 hours just learning together, from each other and from the Bible. I've come to the conclusion that David W. and Jesse are pros at what they know and do. I'm blown away by the insight they've both shared about the Beatitudes (Matthew 5) and community engagement.

2. Lunch hour. I like this hour just being together, being silly, hanging out. We get to eat together and discuss further what we learned in the morning.

3. Putting it into practice. Either through spending time with seniors and kids, figuring out fundraising plans for the different organizations we're apart of, or prayer-walking/helping people on the street, I see how we capitalize on the lessons we learned in the morning.

Today we learned about Peacemakers. "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God." -Matthew 5. Not only will we be blessed for making peace between people, but also between people and God. Our sins have separated us from Him, and as a result, God's wrath is stored up against mankind. Now that Jesus is our mediator between us and God, it is our job to point people to him. It is only through Jesus that God's wrath for sin will be averted. During this internship project, I have really felt the peace of God increase to other areas of my life as we rely on the Messiah and confess our sins to eachother.

Trust this Team

(Posted by Brennan Cooke)

The four of us will be working along side one another for the next couple of weeks and I cannot begin to tell you how happy that makes me. Today we got to do simple team building activities and let our trust in one another increase. Ultimitaly our trust will remain in God, but He led us together to work for His purpose.

I really enjoy the words of Kelsey; now we are a family, a community together and there is nothing better than being a family with a purpose. It is amazing to see how that intertwines us and bonds us.

Looking forward to each day I will be spending with you all and the Fenway community!
